Over 1,000 protesters armed with stones and Molotov cocktails have assaulted the building of the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office and seized it, an Interfax correspondent reported from the scene.

The activists have formed a so-called 'corridor of disgrace', through which about 200 policemen protecting the building had to walk. Before this, the policemen had given away their shields, rubber clubs, and armored vests.

An armored personnel carrier presumably belonging to the law enforcement appeared near the prosecutor's office building at some moment. As soon as the protesters saw it, they rushed toward it, and the APC had to back up.

Most of the windows in the building have been broken, and the entrance doors are now wide open. The separatists have raised the flag of the so-called Donetsk People's Republic on the building.

The Ukrainian Interior Ministry said in a statement that more than 10 people were injured in the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office assault, and one policeman sustained a gunshot wound.
