According to earlier reports, Ukrainian aviation authorities unilaterally banned Russian airlines from flying to the airports of Donetsk and Kharkiv on May 2. The Russian authorities decided not to use symmetrical measures and not to close its airspace to Ukrainian companies.

Passengers who bought plane tickets to Donetsk and Kharkiv were allowed to return the tickets until further notice.

Denis Antonyuk, the head of the Ukrainian State Aviation Service, said the restrictions on flights from Russia to Donetsk and Kharkiv have been imposed until the situation in the said cities stabilizes.
