The U.S. is jeopardizing major international space projects, and therefore Russia needs to look for more reliable partners, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin told journalists on Tuesday.

"It is really alarming to us to continue developing major high-technology projects with such an unreliable partner as the U.S., which is politicizing everything and which is ready to jeopardize prospects affecting interests of all of humankind, not only the U.S.," Rogozin said.

Therefore, the Russian government "has instructed the Federal Space Agency to intensify work with our partners in the Asia Pacific region to look for interesting projects for exploring near and deep space," he said.

At the same time, Russia is not planning to initiate sanctions by itself, Rogozin said.

Russia has repeatedly warned the U.S. that "sanctions are a boomerang and may backfire," he said.
