The heads of almost 150 large international companies have confirmed their participation in the St. Petersburg international economic forum, which will be held on May 22-24, the city's Governor Georgy Poltavchenko said in an interview with information agencies.
"You know, there was a lot of talk about that [the influence of the international situation on the organization of the forum]. But figures speak for themselves. The heads of 146 large international companies and 450 leading Russian companies and 109 representatives of official delegations of 62 countries have now confirmed their participation," Poltavchenko said.
Poltavchenko said 70 percent of the businessmen who will attend the forum are people from Europe and the U.S. "History shows that in conflicts between interests and values Western people mainly choose interests. And Russia is still an interesting partner to them," he said.
On the other hand, Poltavchenko said there is currently an increase in the interest of partners and businessmen from eastern countries in Russia as well.
