Prince Charles' criticism of Putin, if it did occur, reflects badly on him - Russian Foreign Ministry

Prince Charles' severe criticism of Russian President Vladimir Putin over Crimea, if it did occur indeed, does not reflect well on the crown prince, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Prince Charles' severe criticism of Russian President Vladimir Putin over Crimea, if it did occur indeed, does not reflect well on the crown prince, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"We have paid attention to the information, which emerged in mass media regarding the statements of Prince Charles, which, as they say, he made in a private conversation, while on a visit to Canada. If these words indeed were spoken, of course, they do not reflect well on the future British monarch," Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said at a briefing on Thursday.

"Russia's stance on Ukraine and Crimea is brought to the global community almost daily by the president, prime minister, foreign minister and other representatives of the Russian leadership," Lukashevich said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has also requested official explanations from the British Foreign Ministry in regard to Prince Charles' statements about Putin.

"We have requested official explanations from the UK regarding the statements of the crown prince," Lukashevich said.
