Starting June 1, smoking will be banned in cafes and restaurants, and on railway platforms in Russia. Cigarette sale from kiosks will be banned, too.
The law on protecting citizens from the ill effects of tobacco smoking went into effect on Sunday and it obliges public food service chains to remove ash-trays from the tables and bar counters.
Smoking will be banned on long-distance trains, in premises used for providing accommodations, and hotel and every-day services, and also on commuter train platforms.
