Over 12,000 Ukrainian citizens arrived in Russia's Rostov region in the past 24 hours, the regional government press office said in a statement on Friday.

Over 12,000 Ukrainian citizens arrived in Russia's Rostov region in the past 24 hours, the regional government press office said in a statement on Friday.

"In the past 24 hours on June 5-6, 2014 a total 12,181 Ukrainian citizens arrived in Russia's Rostov region," the document said.

A total of 8,386 Ukrainians crossed the Russian-Ukrainian border on June 4 and over 7,000 people on June 5, the press office said.

The regional government and local authorities have prepared 56 temporary accommodation facilities with a capacity of 3,028 people.
