An explosion has occurred on the gas pipeline Urengoi-Pomary-Uzhgorod in the Lokhvistkiy district of the Poltava region of Ukraine, the press service for the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's department in the Poltava region told Interfax.
"A report on the explosion came around 2:20 p.m. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Firefighters are still working," the press service said.
According to the police, the explosion occurred on the section of the pipeline located in a field and the nearest populated area is some 1 kilometer off. "According to eyewitnesses, the flame came as high as some 200 meters," the press service reported.
The press service for the company Ukrtransgas currently has no information on the accident.
