Ukrainian border guards have unilaterally shut down the Shebekino border control post in the Belgorod region under the pretext of border demarcation, a border service source told Interfax on Friday.
"The Shebekino-Pletenevka border checkpoint in the Belgorod region is unilaterally shut down until June 26 due to the border demarcation," said the source familiar with the situation.
In his words, the Ukrainian Border Service does not allow Russian citizens to enter Ukraine but the post is open to people traveling to Russia.
Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Secretary Andriy Parubiy reported earlier this week that the Council had ordered the government to hold unilateral demarcation of the Ukrainian-Russian state border.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said Russia viewed the Ukrainian decision on unilateral border demarcation as null and void and expected Kiev not to take that move.
