About 100,000 Ukrainian citizens applied for asylum in Russia during the past months, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak said.
"A hundred thousand people have requested asylum-related status in Russia. The Federation Migration Service is currently considering these applications under simplified procedures," Kozak told reporters in Simferopol on Friday.
According to the deputy prime minister, the number of Ukrainian citizens, who are in Russia, grew year-on-year by 800,000 people from 1.1 million to 1.9 million people.
About 20,000 Ukrainian citizens seeking asylum in Russia are in temporary accommodation facilities and the rest stay with friends and family, Kozak said.
