A battle is underway in Ukraine near Russia's Kuibyshevo customs post and rockets launched in Ukraine have reached Russia.

"As of now, over 15 rockets have already hit Russian territory," head of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) regional border department press office Vasily Malayev told Interfax.

These shells hit between the Kuibyshevo checkpoint and the village of Primiussky, he said.

No one was killed or injured during the attack, but shells continue hitting Russian territory because of the clashes on the Ukrainian side at this hour, Malayev said.

Border guards and customs officers have been evacuated to safety.

Border guards continue performing their duty of protecting the Russian national border, Malayev said.

Four rockets exploded approximately 200 meters away from the Russian customs post Kuibyshevo in the Rostov region, Southern Customs Department press office head Rayan Farukshin told Interfax earlier on Thursday.

"Customs post employees have been evacuated to a safe distance. They do not have the opportunity to return or start carrying out their duties now," Farukshin said.

According to Farukshin, they were launched from Ukraine, where gunfire is heard now.
