Putin: Efforts must be taken to bring sides in Ukrainian conflict to negotiating table

Russian President Vladimir Putin regretted the disruption of the contact group on Ukraine's negotiations and said efforts must be made to bring both sides in the Ukraine conflict to the negotiating table.

"It is a pity the contact group has failed to meet. I believe that everyone who has a connection with and influence on all sides in this conflict should work towards stopping the bloodshed immediately and on both sides. Efforts must be made to bring the conflicting sides to the negotiating table," Putin told reporters.

"What we should have done together is to have called on all sides in the Ukrainian conflict to immediately cease hostilities and begin negotiations. But, unfortunately, we have not seen such efforts from our partners, primarily the Americans, who I believe are pushing the incumbent Ukrainian authorities to continue the fratricidal war and the punitive operation. This policy has no future," Putin said.
