Ukrainian Defense Ministry is probing reports about flight of 40 servicemen to Russia

Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Ihor Kabanenko has said that his ministry is probing reports about a group of Ukrainian servicemen crossing the border with Russia.

Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Ihor Kabanenko has said that his ministry is probing reports about a group of Ukrainian servicemen crossing the border with Russia.

 

"The defense minister of Ukraine has appointed a probe in relation to an incident occurring on July 25, 2014 and involving 40 servicemen of the 51st motorized brigade allegedly crossing the state border with the Russian Federation," Kabanenko's statement received by Interfax on Sunday morning says.

The minister will report on the findings of the probe to the president during 24 hours, Kabanenko said.

Earlier some media reports said that over 40 Ukrainian servicemen left the ranks of the Ukrainian army and crossed over to the Russian Federation.
