U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden and Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk have discussed the situation in eastern Ukraine in a phone conversation, the U.S. embassy in Ukraine has reported, citing Biden's office.
According to the report, Biden shared with Yatsenyuk the U.S. plans to provide almost $7 million in assistance to cover the immediate needs of the recently liberated areas in eastern Ukraine, including $1 million of new assistance.
According to the report, Yatsenyuk and Biden also discussed the economic situation in Ukraine, reforms, and the investigation into the Malaysian plane crash in the Donetsk region. Yatsenyuk reiterated Ukraine's obligations in regard to economic reforms as per its agreement with the International Monetary Fund, the report says.
