Fifteen Ukrainian soldiers killed, 79 injured in east Ukraine fighting over past 24 hours - National Security and Defense Council

Fifteen Ukrainian troops have been killed and another 79 have been injured as a result of fighting in the country's eastern regions over the past 24 hours, the spokesman for Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), Andriy Lysenko, said at a press briefing in Kiev on Friday.

The killed personnel include seven army servicemen and eight border guards, he said.

Lysenko explained this large number of killed and injured Ukrainian soldiers by multiple artillery strikes launched by militiamen against Ukrainian government forces.
