Russian President Vladimir Putin and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso discussed relations between Russia and the European Union over the phone, the Russian presidential press service reported on Thursday.

"The sides discussed key issues concerning relations between Russia and the European Union, including in light of the signing of the Association Agreement between Kiev and the EU," the press service said.

Putin and Barroso "agreed to continue contacts, including during a possible personal meeting, the date and venue for which will be determined through diplomatic channels," it said.
