Militia alleges success in fighting near Lugansk

The self-proclaimed Lugansk People's Republic (LPR) militia alleges it has destroyed Ukrainian military hardware and captured Ukrainian soldiers.

The self-proclaimed Lugansk People's Republic (LPR) militia alleges it has destroyed Ukrainian military hardware and captured Ukrainian soldiers.

"The Southeast Army artillery has destroyed two armored personnel carriers, four vehicles and a fuel and lubricants storage in the vicinity of Vasylevka and Shchastya. The casualties stood at 23 men killed and wounded," a source in the LPR staff told Interfax on Friday.

The source also claimed the destruction of a mobile Ukrainian group operating in the settlement of Fashchevka. "A mortar crew, an armored personnel carrier and an Ural truck were destroyed. The enemy lost 14 men killed and wounded," the source continued.

"A cross-country vehicle and a mortar were seized in a clash with a mobile mortar crew near Shyshkove. One Ukrainian serviceman was killed and three surrendered and were taken prisoner," he said.

The militia reported the ongoing search and liquidation of Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups in the area of Tsvitni-Pisky, Svetle and Lyman.

Interfax has yet to obtain a confirmation to this report from Ukrainian sources.
