Russia is not going to "turn a blind eye" on propaganda for terrorism, extremism, religious hatred and child pornography on the web and will be closing such information resources.

Russia is not going to "turn a blind eye" on propaganda for terrorism, extremism, religious hatred and child pornography on the web and will be closing such information resources.

"We are obliged to protect our citizens, young people, not least by using to that end the practice already in use in many countries. We cannot turn a blind eye on the fact that websites promote terrorism, extremism, xenophobia and religious hatred, that the world wide web contains child pornography," Putin told the Russian Security Council.

The state is also set to counter the spread on the Internet of detailed descriptions of how to make narcotic poison or commit suicide, he said.

"I repeat: there is a global active fight against such materials, their disseminators get punished and can face even criminal charges. We will act likewise, consistently and strictly in accordance with the law and close such websites. No one should have any doubt about that," Putin said.
