Unknown hooligans tried to blind the crews of four planes approaching the Vnukovo airport for landing last night with lasers, a source in the airport air traffic control service told Interfax on Tuesday.

All the incidents happened at around midnight, and the hooligans presumably were at the same location, ten to twelve kilometers away from the runway.

"The first attempt to blind an airplane crew was reported by a Boeing 747 en route from the Turkish province of Mugla, to Vnukovo. A similar incident was later reported by the crew of a Boeing approaching the airport from Antalya. Similar reports of the crews of Maltese and Luxembourg airlines arriving from St. Petersburg and Ibiza followed at a ten minute interval," the source said.

All the four airplanes landed successfully and no one was hurt, he said.
