Gazprom chief Alexei Miller and the vice president of CNPC, Wang Dongjin, have signed a technical supplement to an agreement on the purchase and sale of natural gas via the Eastern Route, which was concluded by Gazprom and CNPC on May 21, 2014, an Interfax correspondent reported from the signing ceremony.
The document determines the main parameters of the design, construction and operation of the trans-border section of the Power of Siberia gas pipeline. In addition, the document contains the main technical and technological characteristics of the transmission of gas from the seller to the buyer.
The construction of Power of Siberia, which is meant to supply Russian gas to China via the Eastern Route, began on September 1. The pipeline is 3,968 kilometers long. It has a capacity of 38 billion cubic meters of gas a year with the possibility of increasing to 64 bcm a year.
