Dollar, euro up markedly against ruble

The dollar was trading at 40.665 rubles/$1 after the couple of minutes of trading, 21 kopecks above previous closing but 27-28 below today's official rate.

The dollar and euro are both growing markedly against the ruble in early trading on the Moscow Exchange on Thursday.

The ruble is correcting down following yesterday's gains and on the back of sliding oil prices.

The dollar was trading at 40.665 rubles/$1 after the couple of minutes of trading, 21 kopecks above previous closing but 27-28 below today's official rate.

The euro began the day at 51.2 rubles/EUR1, 33 kopecks above the previous close and 32 above the official exchange rate.

The bi-currency basket ($0.55 and EUR0.45) was down up 27 kopecks in value to 45.815 rubles.
