The chairman of the Russian State Duma's Foreign Affairs Committee, Alexei Pushkov, has proposed suspending travel to and from West Africa in order to prevent Ebola importation to Russia.

"As they keep talking in the West, Ebola, according to the WHO [World Health Organization], will soon start to infect up to 10,000 people weekly. The only way out is to cut off all travel to and from West Africa," Pushkov said on his Twitter account.

The Ebola virus raging in West Africa has already claimed nearly 4,500 lives, with some 10,000 people believed to be infected.
