Russia premier sends condolences over Total CEO's death

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has offered his condolences to the family of Total CEO Christophe de Margerie and the management of the French oil company over de Margerie's death, the Russian government's press service has reported.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has offered his condolences to the family of Total CEO Christophe de Margerie and the management of the French oil company over de Margerie's death, the Russian government's press service has reported.

"It is an enormous loss. Mr. de Margerie was a friend and a partner of our country. He had always been very straightforward on the most acute issues. We will miss him," Medvedev said in his message.

The Russian prime minister also sent his condolences to the families of the plane crew members who died in the air crash as well.

De Margerie was killed when his Falcon plane collided with a snow-clearing machine at Moscow's Vnukovo airport late on Monday. The plane's three crew members were also killed. A criminal inquiry is under way.
