Novak: Ukraine needs gas and the sooner it pays, the better for everyone

Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak expects an advance payment for natural gas deliveries from Ukraine shortly because the country needs gas.

Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak expects an advance payment for natural gas deliveries from Ukraine shortly because the country needs gas.

"I think that they will have to make an advance payment for November in the nearest future. We think they have a need for gas, it existed before and the sooner they pay and gas is supplied, the better for them and European consumers," he said to journalists on Sunday.

He said Gazprom transferred money for gas transit via Ukraine for Q4 and this is regarded as a source of the advance payment for gas for November-December.
