Putin: Russia hopes to boost ruble, yuan settlements with China through energy trade

Russia intends to more actively use settlements in national currencies within the context of economic relations with China, and will expand such possibilities through trade of energy resources, President Vladimir Putin said.

Russia intends to more actively use settlements in national currencies within the context of economic relations with China, and will expand such possibilities through trade of energy resources, President Vladimir Putin said.

"China remains one of our key partners in [the Asia-Pacific region]. Within the context of cooperation with this country we intend to more actively use settlements in the national currency. The first deals for rubles and yuan are already being carried out," Putin said at the APEC business summit in Beijing.

"I want to note that we will also be prepared to expand such possibilities through trade of energy resources. Our experts are now studying such possibilities," Putin said.
