New specialised Russian Visa Application Centres recently opened in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. One of the primary objectives of the centres is to improve the quality of service provided to Indian citizens looking to visit Russia and to accelerate and simplify visa processing, Alexander Abramov, Lex Systems Director General, which owns the centres, told RIR.

Around 30,000 Indian tourists visit Russia annually. Abramov is certain that after opening the centres this number will double within three years.

“We have carried out research and discovered that the main reason tourists do not travel to Russia is the lack of information they have about our country,” he said. “The majority of respondents, who we questioned, were certain that it took longer to travel to Russia than Europe, when in fact the opposite is the case.”

He said the respondents also complained about the difficulty of receiving a Russian visa. “Simplifying and expediting the process of obtaining a Russian visa is a top priority for the Russian Visa Centre,” Abramov added. “We will also help raise people’s awareness.”

Agents of the visa centre will guide persons on any matter relating to the process of obtaining a Russian visa, help them to fill in a visa application, and will process the set of documents and submit them to the Consular Division of the Embassy or Consulate General of the Russian Federation.

“Once the decision is taken by the Embassy or the Consulate General of the Russian Federation on the issuance of visa, you can collect the prepared documents at the visa centre,” he added.

Tourists may personally schedule an appointment by visiting the visa centre website, or by directly visiting the visa centre. Upon submitting the documents for a Russian visa through the Russian Visa Centre, consular and service fees must be paid. Payment may be made in cash directly at the visa centre.
