Turkey hopes to hold two meetings with Gazprom before the New Year to discuss the size of the discount on the natural gas that Russia intends to deliver to Turkey, Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said.
"We held the first conference today on the price [with Gazprom] and before New Year we will meet with Gazprom once or twice to discuss prices," he said to journalists on Wednesday.
He reminded them that Russia had promised a 6% discount on gas but Turkey wanted the discount to be increased.
He voiced hope that Moscow and Ankara would reach agreement on the issue.
Asked about the possibility of Turkey taking part in the construction of a new pipeline for the delivery of Russian natural gas the minister said: "As far as my knowledge about the sea part of the project goes, the Gazprom partners for South Stream are known. Still we can discuss partnership on the ground - in Thrace."
However, TANAP gas pipeline remains a priority project for Turkey, he said.
