The international payment system Visa has no intention of blocking the cards of Russian banks.

The international payment system Visa has no intention of blocking the cards of Russian banks.

“Visa continues to provide payments processing services in Russia as usual,” the payment system’s spokesman told TASS.

According to the official, Russia remained a priority market for Visa and the company was continuing operations with clients and partners.

Earlier, several mass media and social networks published rumours Visa cards did not work and there was a possibility they had been blocked. Also, the suspicion emerged cash on Visa cards would be frozen. In some regions bank clients lined up to the ATMs.

Sberbank continues working with Visa and MasterCard systems, it has not limited cash withdrawals, the bank’s press service told TASS thus rejecting the information in social networks claiming the bank experienced problems with card processing.

“Sberbank continues working with the Visa and MasterCard international payment systems. Sberbank has not and will not limit cash withdrawals or card operations. No limits for cash withdrawals in the bank’s ATMs,” the press service said.
