Russia's position on a contract with France for the construction and delivery of the Mistral helicopter carriers remains unchanged: Moscow would be equally whether France transfers the ships or refunds all money invested in the project by Russia, says Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yury Borisov.
"It doesn't matter whether it is December 31, 2014 or January 1, 2015 on the calendar: we are waiting for France's decision. We will be satisfied with any option: either the Mistrals or the refund of all the money invested," Borisov told journalists, adding that the second scenario "might even be more preferable" in the current circumstances, Borisov said.
Asked whether Russia could demand penalties from France for disrupting the contract, Borisov replied that this could be decided "in case of court proceedings."
