Individuals buying foreign currency with rubles accounts for half of Russia's capital outflow, President Vladimir Putin said.
"With respect to the capital outflow. Yes, indeed, most likely, our colleague is correct. But let's not forget something else: evidently, these figures need adjustments. This capital outflow we see today, 50% of it is currency exchange operations by Russian citizens," Putin said at a meeting with lawmakers from the Federal Assembly.
Russians "have gotten out of the ruble and exchanged for other currencies: dollars, euro. But this money remains in the country. It hasn't gone anywhere," Putin said.
