DPR finds recent meeting of Contact Group in Minsk fruitful

The December 24 meeting in Minsk can be regarded as fruitful because the sides succeeded in agreeing on a large-scale swap of POWs, representative of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) on the Contact Group Denis Pushilin told Interfax on Saturday.

"The meeting was generally fruitful. We succeeded in agreeing on a large-scale exchange but on the whole it is premature to speak of the results. We discussed all matters. There still is a lack of understanding, of course, but there are also mutual attempts to reach compromise," he said.

He said that the DPR leadership believes that many supporters of the self-proclaimed republic remain in captivity. "There are still many of our comrades-in-arms in captivity on the Ukrainian side. We cannot desert them and will continue efforts to have them released," Pushilin said without naming any concrete figures.

Earlier on Saturday the Ukrainian side announced that 490 servicemen were still held captive by the militia.
