Russia to set up aerospace forces in 2015 — chief of General Staff

Russian Aerospace Forces will be formed in 2015, Chief of General Staff and First Deputy Defense Minister Valery Gerasimov said on Tuesday.

Russian Aerospace Forces will be formed in 2015, Chief of General Staff and First Deputy Defense Minister Valery Gerasimov said on Tuesday.

“Aerospace Forces, a new arm of armed forces, will be created through the merger of two current arms of military forces: Air Force and Aerospace Defense Forces,” Gerasimov told reporters.

Construction of a reliable layered missile attack warning system in its space segment and in the deployment of highly prefabricated radar stations will be continued, he said.
