Russia, Iran sign intergovernmental agreement on military cooperation

"A significant step in strengthening these relations was the signing of an intergovernmental agreement on military cooperation today. A theoretical foundation for interaction in the military sphere has been created," Shoigu said at the ceremony.

"We have agreed to expand the practice of calls of military ships at Russian and Iranian ports," Shoigu said.

Issues relating to humanitarian minesweeping were also discussed on Russia's initiative, the minister said.
