The Justice Ministry has terminated the proceedings in the case seeking the closure of the human rights society Memorial, the ministry press service has reported.

The Justice Ministry has terminated the proceedings in the case seeking the closure of the human rights society Memorial, the ministry press service has reported.

"The case seeking the closure of the all-Russian public organization Russian Historical, Educational, Charity and Human Rights Society Memorial has been closed because the organization has corrected the violations," the press service said in a report obtained by Interfax on Wednesday.

The Justice Ministry said a study of the new charter submitted by Memorial to the ministry on January 22 "has led to the decision that the documents submitted for state registration are in line with the federal law On Public Associations and the provisions of the Russian Civil Code."

"Thus, the violations that led to the lawsuit seeking the closure of Memorial have now been corrected, and the Russian Justice Ministry has informed the Russian Supreme Court about that today," the press release says.
