Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin was rated as the best NHL player of January, the NHL's press service reports.
The Russian hockey player scored the most goals in the league in January, notching 12 in total and reaching 15 points in 13 games. These results helped him to bag first place in the rating of NHL snipers - he already has 31 goals to his name in 50 games.

forward John Tavares was rated second-best player of the month (he has 16 points in 12 games), while Boston
Bruins goalkeeper Tuukka Rask came third, conceding an average of just 1.61 goals.
