Cuban President Raul Castro may visit Russia this year, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Vassily Nebenzya said.

"This year, Raul Castro is expected to visit Russia, Nebenzya told TASS at a news briefing in Havana following two-day consultations between foreign ministry representatives of Russia and Cuba.

An exact date for the visit has not yet been set, he said, adding that the issue is being discussed at the moment.

The Russian diplomat noted that the two countries maintained high-level political dialogue, and each year, their leaders in turn visited Russia or Cuba. Last July, Russian President Vladimir Putin paid a visit to Cuba during his Latin America tour.

A Russian delegation, led by Nebenzya, in Havana held consultations with Cuban counterparts on issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
