Russia, India to produce helicopters based on Ka-226

OJSC «Russian Helicopters» together with the Indian partners plan to set up the development and production of unified series of light helicopters on the basis of Ka-226 in India, the General Director of the OJSC Alexandr Mikheyev told TASS at the international exhibition Aero India 2015.

According to him, the Russian side is discussing with the Indians «the technology transfer or the joint development of light multipurpose helicopter on the basis of Ka-226.» «We believe that this will be a unique project for the Indian side,»- Mikheyev said.

He noted that the countries would cooperate within the scope of «development, production, and technology transfers.» Thus, as the agency's interlocutor said, the projects would be developed on the basis of Ka-226 to create a unified series of multi-purpose helicopters which could serve not only Indian security forces, but also the civil purposes.
