More than 500 companies from 27 countries are exhibiting their aircraft and other products related to aviation and defense at Avalon 2015 international aerospace exposition that has opened in Geelong, Victoria State.
The show was held for the first time in 1992, then in 1995. Since 1995, it has been held on a biennial basis and has turned into the largest display of aircraft, space and defense technologies in Asia and the Pacific.
Russian companies are absent from this year’s display. Two years ago, the country was represented by Russian Helicopters and the United Aircraft Corportation.
Traditionally, the first three days are given to aviation experts, and the public at large will have access to the exhibition starting February 27 through to March 1. This year’s show is held under the motto of Heroes of the Skies and is dedicated to Anzac Day [remembrance day commemorating all Australians and New Zealanders who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations].
April 25 will mark a centenary anniversary since the landfall of Australian and New Zealand landing party on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey.
Avalon 2015 organizers hope the show will have more than 200,000 visitors.
