An entire list of large countries have expressed their interest in joining the BRICS group, announced Vadim Lukov, ambassador at large with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and coordinator for issues relating to the G20 and BRICS, on Thursday.

The diplomat observed that the BRICS group supports four basic strategic principles: strengthening the role of the United Nations and the primacy of international law, independent international economic policy, the complementary nature of economies and increasing the speed of economic development, as a solution to social and political problems for BRICS countries.

"Taken together, these are all timeless issues, which hold our community together. It is no coincidence that BRICS is attracting more and more member states. There is already a list of countries wanting to join BRICS. For understandable reasons I cannot reveal it, but take my word for it, this list includes a whole range of large countries and developing countries,” said Lukov as part of an open discussion entitled BRICS: Prospects for cooperation and development.
