North Korea, Russia to hold Cross Year, step up delegation exchanges in 2015

Moscow and Pyongyang have declared 2015 the Year of Russia-DPRK Friendship, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.

Moscow and Pyongyang have declared 2015 the Year of Russia-DPRK Friendship, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.

"Seeking to achieve a higher level of relations between the Russian Federation and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the political, economic, humanitarian and other fields, it has been decided to hold a Cross Year of Russia-DPRK Friendship in 2015, which is marked with the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War [of 1941-1945] and the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Korea," the ministry said in a report posted on Wednesday.

"In the course of the Year of Friendship, our states will step up exchange of delegations and contacts on interdepartmental and interregional levels and arrange joint cultural events in Moscow, Pyongyang and other cities of Russia and the DPRK," it said.

This will be the first Year of Friendship in the history of Russia-DPRK relations.
