General Motors (GM) has decided to stop producing its Opel brand at its St. Petersburg plant in the middle of this year, the American car maker said in a statement.
The St. Petersburg plant will be mothballed, and the contract assembly of Opel cars at the facilities of Russia's GAZ Group in Nizhny Novgorod will stop as well this year.
GM's plan also concern Opel sales in Russia. The brand will leave the Russian market completely by the end of December 2015, the statement says.
