Russian diplomat, Arab League secretary-general discuss interaction in resolving Mideast crises

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and special presidential envoy for the Middle East Mikhail Bogdanov and League of Arab States Secretary-General Nabil Elaraby met on Friday to discuss ways to enhance interaction to resolve crises in the Middle East and North Africa, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and special presidential envoy for the Middle East Mikhail Bogdanov and League of Arab States Secretary-General Nabil Elaraby met on Friday to discuss ways to enhance interaction to resolve crises in the Middle East and North Africa, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

"During the conversation, [Bogdanov and Elaraby] discussed relevant issues on the regional agenda, with an emphasis placed on the need to step up interaction between Russia and the LAS to resolve crises in the Middle East and North Africa," the ministry said.

Bogdanov and Elaraby met in Sharm el-Sheikh on March 27, before the opening of an Arab League summit. The Russian diplomat asked the Arab League secretary-general to pass Russian President Vladimir Putin's greetings to the heads of state and government of the Arab League member-states.
