India intends to increase buffalo meat deliveries to Russia

India wants to expand the list of companies that are allowed to supply buffalo meat to Russia.

India wants to expand the list of companies that are allowed to supply buffalo meat to Russia. The First Secretary at the Embassy of India in Russia, Amit Telang, appealed to the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) with a proposal to hold a new round of inspections of Indian companies interested in exporting their products to Russia.

A Rosselkhoznadzor delegation plans to visit India in mid-April, to investigate that country’s official food products inspection system.

Currently, four Indian companies have been given permission to supply buffalo meat to Russia.

India is one of the world’s largest suppliers of meat. It supplies products to 65 countries around the world. In 2013, the country exported 1.4 million tons, worth $4.8 billion.
