The development of trade and investment cooperation between India and Moscow Region has huge potential, Pundi Srinivasan Raghavan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India in Russia, said in an interview with the Podmoskovye Segodnya Newspaper.

According to Mr. Raghavan, the Moscow Region is an industrially well-developed region, which presents great opportunities for cooperation in a number of sectors, including pharmaceutical, metallurgy, food, chemical, and mechanical engineering.

The Ambassador said that the pharmaceuticals sphere – is a traditionally strong area of cooperation between India and Russia, and so it is necessary to promote cooperation between the pharmaceutical research laboratories, in order not be limited to just the “buyer – seller” roles. This can be achieved by overcoming the current shortage of information. Business and scientific-research institutions of both countries need to know about these opportunities, noted Mr. Raghavan.

In addition, the Ambassador stressed the need to establish cultural ties between India and the Moscow Region. In particular, they are planning to hold events dedicated to yoga in the Moscow Region – to mark the first International Yoga Day, which will be celebrated on June 21, 2015.
