India uses Russian-made frigate for Yemen evacuations

The Indian Navy is using the Russian-built INS Tarkash to evacuate Indians and foreigners from Yemen.

The Indian Navy is using the Russian-built INS Tarkash to evacuate Indians and foreigners from Yemen.

The Tarkash was used to evacuate 74 people from the Yemeni port of Al Hodeidah to Djibouti.  India has also evacuated Russians and nationals of 27 other countries including Sweden, the US, UK and Bangladesh.

The INS Tarkash, a Talwar-class frigate, was built by the Yantar shipyard in Kaliningrad.
