Over 350 Russian citizens and foreign nationals have flown to Moscow from Sanaa fearing civil war, a spokesman for the Russian embassy in Yemen told Interfax by telephone on Sunday.

"Both planes flew out from Sanaa at about midday," he said.

The planes' departure was allowed by the Saudi authorities who control the air space above Yemen, he said.

It was not the last group of refugees bound for Russia, he added.

A Russian warship earlier evacuated more than 350 people, among them Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians and Americans, from Aden to Djibouti.
