The European Union has never introduced any visa restrictions for Russia and is not going to do this, head of the EU Delegation to Russia Vygaudas Usackas told TASS on Tuesday.
Answering a question is the EU was ready to resume dialogue on a visa-free travel regime with Russia, the diplomat said, "The visa-free regime dialogue has been suspended as part of the [Western] sanctions."
"But despite this, not a single EU country has taken any restrictive steps to complicate for Russians the entry into the Schengen or EU area," Usackas said. "On the contrary, the European Union member states are taking concrete steps to maintain exchanges between people, tourist flows, contacts between businessmen, and there have been no restrictions in this sphere and they are not expected."
Usackas attends an international seminal on internationalization of higher education held at Russia’s Northern (Arctic) Federal University in Arkhangelsk.
