Prosecutors in Krasnodar Territory are investigating a video footage posted on the Internet, showing a group of young women dancing against the backdrop of the Malaya Zemlya memorial in Novorossiysk, a spokesperson for the prosecutors said on Saturday.
"In the course of the inquiry, an assessment will be given to how the authorities complied with the laws on preservation of cultural heritage monuments, on education and moral upbringing of young people, and to how law enforcement authorities maintained public order," the spokesperson said.
At the prosecutors' request, police opened administrative cases against the young women under the "petty hooliganism" article, and sent the case files to a court.
"The Novorossiysk Prosecutor's Office has filed a request with the Novorossiysk police chief to bring the responsible officials to account for failing to protect the Malaya Zemlya memorial museum. Checks have been organized at the dancers' schools and the Art Dance School of Dance on the subject of compliance with the federal laws,\" the spokesperson said.
