UC Rusal, the world’s largest aluminum producer is looking at buying some bauxite producers in Indonesia, its chief executive Vladislav Soloviev told the Wall Street Journal in an interview.
Soloviev added that the depreciation in the rouble helped the company since most of its costs are denominated in the Russian currency, but added that cost cutting measures were on the cards.
Senior Rusal executives had said last year that the company was looking at making Indonesia its Asian hub for alumina production.
