German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier will be on a working visit in Russia on May 7 and hold talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Volgograd, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.

"His itinerary includes a visit to Volgograd hero-city where the German minister will pay tribute to those who fell in the struggle against Nazism during World War II. Together with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov he is expected to attend a wreath-placing ceremony on Mamayev Kurgan where the memorial to heroes of the battle of Stalingrad is located. He is also slated to visit a cemetery of Soviet soldiers killed near Stalingrad in the village of Rossoshki and the nearby burial of German servicemen," a posting on the ministry's website says.

The two foreign ministers will hold talks on topical issues of the bilateral and international agendas and jointly visit the Music against War international festival involving symphony orchestras from Volgograd and Osnabruck, the report says.
